Working in Ocean Springs

Hi everyone,

We are all well. Rosa is growing so fast. The kids are working hard on school and are all doing well on their studies.

Most of last week was spent on Jeremy's project in Ocean Springs. Work included final carpentry needed to start the metal roof and installing metal roof. The house is a 2 story elevated house with high ceilings and a metal roof. It is a nice situation for us as Jeremy is allowing us to come and go as it suits us around our other work. Jeremy will be in Duluth for the next month finishing his house there so it can be sold. We will be leaving about the time he returns.

Last week Steve and Rebecca treated us to dinner as we planned their siding and window project. This project is also in Ocean Springs 4 blocks from the beach. It is amazing that they sustained no flooding in Katrina as homes only 2 blocks away are completely destroyed.

As of this evening we have 5 new windows in and most of the soffit installed. Nicholas helped Monday and Tuesday and Andrew helped today. Tomorrow Joshua and Samuel will be put in the action.

On Sunday Pastor Pete and Pam treated us to a meal at a Mexican restaurant. They have been so good to us since we met them 3 years ago. Last spring Andrew went to Kid's Camp under Pastor Pete's leadership. The camp was sold out and we found out later that Pastor Pete slept on the floor so that Andrew could have a bed. He said he wanted to honor Andrew for sleeping in a tent for months to help Katrina victims. How's that for being Christlike?

We are on standby to help a victim who qualifies for a Habitat for Humanity house. The candidate has to perform community service hours but volunteers can perform those hours on her behalf, the way we understand it. We will know more soon, this may happen yet this week.

The nice weather we had has been followed by rain, but now wind and cold. It is windy and will be in the 30's tonight. This may be a blessing as the neighborhoods we have been working are infested with nasty biting gnats. They will hide if it is cool and windy.

On Monday Brian and Nicholas drove the Hwy 90 route along the beach from Gulfport to Ocean Springs to deliver siding. There is a lot of projects in process including fixing the highway. There is a lot of new curbing, resurfacing and work on the beach itself. There is a huge casino just beginning construction. There are some house starts and a Mc Donalds under construction to name a few. Traffic is up since the bridges are now open.

That's about all that is new here for now. Thank you for checking on the blog.

In Christ

Nice to read the updates. The children are all growing so fast, but since I only get to see them in person once a year to two, that understandable.

I wanted to tell you that since you mentioned how wonderful the Truth Project was, I made sure and started attending it a church here. I wasn't disappointed. It's been very good. We just finished the fourth pillar - history. It's been a little tricky getting to all them since it's at the same time as our family night league bowling. But God has been awesome to reschedule things. So far I only missed one.
Thanks for mentioning it.
God bless, love, Coreen
